A much calmer week - I'm giving thanks

this is the time of year where we give thanks for lots of things. This week I am very thankful for my family and thankful that I am in a good place right now. After the week I had last week, I want to sit, close my eyes, and smile.

This week is so much calmer than last week. I am so happy that last week is behind me and I have finally been able to sigh a quick sigh of relief. I love the crisp weather and the sound of the roaring fire today. I am thankful that Delaney, Sam, and Brendan are in school and i'm sitting on my couch with Natalie just cuddling today. I know the calmness isn't going to be for much longer. I have an appointment this afternoon and then i'm back to studying for my next exam which is on Tuesday and is very, very intense with way too much information to know. I will be done with this class in December, however (one month from today to be exact) and then I will be in my last nursing class starting in January. A May graduation (the day before mother's day) is looking like it's right around the corner. I'm finally in the homestretch.
So gone is last week's insane whirlwind.......Delaney fell a week ago Sunday and after crying for hours that her head hurt i took her to the ER to be evaluated. She threw up while there and they gave her some anti-nausea meds and put her in a ct scanner - the results were negative for fractures or bleeding, but she did have a slight concussion. that was scary enough. Thursday my mom came by to visit and I got us both a hot coffee from Dunkin's. Delaney and Natalie decided to fight over who was going to give Grandma the coffee and the cover came off burning Delaney's stomach from her neck to her waist and burning her leg and her left arm. to hear a burned child scream is something one should never have to endure. i took her once again to the ER and i was literally hyperventilating. So much for nursing school-all my knowledge went out the window. All I remember is pulling her shirt off and getting cool water. My car was left running in the ER parking lot. My baby was crying. I was hyterical .........they called pedi stat and took her in immediately, treated her burns and released us. they classified her burns as partial thickness second degree burns so she had to go into Shriner's on Friday to be evaluated. While at the hospital ER she perked up after some pain meds and wanted a popsicle. They wrapped her up and told her she was a candy cane and they were going to hang her from the tree............she started giggling. what took me days to get over, only took a few seconds for her thanks to goofy nurses, purple popsicles, "cool" tape, and the princess movie Rapunzel.

*sigh* I'm enjoying sitting in front of my fire right now. I'm very thankful and very content.

Delaney, honey, Christy and I were so shocked to see that happened to you! You comforted us with your smiling face all wrapped up from the nurses. You are a strong little girl. We hope you get better soon and are sorry you had to go through such a tragic thing. We are proud of how your Mom handled the situation!!! You are lucky to have her! We love you.
